Teaching Philosophy

I tailor my lessons to each individual student's goals (technique, theory, composition, etc, or even just learning songs to play around the campfire), and at a level of difficulty that suits the student.

Biography

For the last 30 years, Les Ohlhauser has done almost nothing besides play, think, and live guitar. During that time, he has performed thousands of gigs, written tons of songs, recorded several albums, taught countless students, and has loved every minute of it.

Les's resume includes West Music and Just Make Music (both in Marion, IA), as well as private lessons from home. Les also offers lessons online for those unable to travel.

You can also often find Les onstage. In addition to playing in several popular cover bands around the area, Les also plays with area theaters, mainly Theatre Cedar Rapids, performs at weddings and ceremonies, does solo shows of all kinds, and runs sound for live events. With the exception of a few years spent in Chicago, Les has also been a mainstay of the live music scene in the corridor for over 30 years.
